Mortgage Update

With all the physical improvements that have taken place in the last year that we can see, it is important to also know about what has been done that is not necessarily so appartent. In 2007, we began to pay off a mortgage for 5006 E. Trindle Road. Here are the financial totals for the end of 2007. Thank you all for your good stewardship in the past year, and let's keep things going and do the same in 2008!!!

Extra Principal in 2007:.....................$37,862.96
Total Principal paid in 2007:..............$43,654.77
Initial payoff date:.............................1/31/2027
Current payoff date:..........................9/30/2020

NOTE: Amount of time taken off the mortgage: 6 years, 4 months!

2008 Mission Planning Grant

With great joy I can announce that recently an anonymous donor generously gave the Orthodox Church in America $60,000, specifically allocated to the Missions Department. This new money has enabled us to be re-awarded the Mission Planning Grant in 2008! Thank God for this wonderful person and their donation!

We should be reminded of the verse from St. Mark's Gospel: "Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." (11:24)

Thank you all for your fervent prayers over this, and let us now work to be good stewards of this great gift. I had preached that if we were faithful, God would provide. Well, the most appropriate thing I can think of to say over this are the words we pray at the Great Blessing of Water on Theophany: "Great are Thy works, O Lord, and marvelous are Thy works, and there is nothing we can say to sufficiently hymn all Thy wonders!"

GIANT Gift Cards

GIANT gift cards are still available for purchase from Elizabeth Gaither after Liturgies at Fellowship Hour. These gift cards can be purchased in denominations of $25, $50, and $100, and can be used at all GIANT supermarkets to purchase groceries. They can also now be used at GIANT to purchase gas. The proceeds of this program benefit our Mission! Please see Elizabeth for more details.

Orthodox Radio

The Orthodox Council of Churches of South Central PA (OCCSCP) is reminding parishioners of our Orthodox radio program on Sunday mornings.  Tune into radio station 720 AM at 8:00 am on the way to Liturgy on Sundays to listen to an Orthodox program sponsored by the Pan-Orthodox community.

Monthly Parish Council Meeting

Our Parish Council meeting will take place on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm. Everyone is invited to participate in this important administrative ministry of the church.

Orthodox Incense

Our very own Reynolds family runs Orthodox Incense which carries liturgical items (for church and home) such as Athonite style incense (domestic and imported) hand censers, vigil lamps & supplies, monestary soap gift baskets, Goats milk soap and lotions, and other unique items.
